I've been streaming to my PS3 for about 18 months using Mediatomb, for the last 12 months I've been run a manually compiled version from SVN (0.12) rather than the .deb packages which are 0.11. I did experiment with PS3MediaServer for a while it didn't suite me. I've recently switched from Mediatomb to MiniDLNA, is it quite excellent and very simple to configure. See my blog for more details...

I'm using "Coherence" to stream video to my Xbox 360, it works really well, not a lot of info on configuring it and setting it up sadly, but that said it's still much easier than FUPPES to get up and running, no video transcoding as yet, so it only streams formats that the xbox will natively play. It comes with loads of plug in's too, I can stream YouTube videos to TV using the YouTube plugin for example.
